Well I have talked about woodworking and have talked about iPhone. So let’s tie the 2 together , here is a neat app for your iPhone.

Do you know if your hardwood flooring is red or white oak? Why does quarter sawn cost so much more than other cuts of wood?

This app is like an instant primer on any carpentry task that involves wood.

Once again I have neglected my poor under used website, been busy with work and a few personal issues. But the good news is we are still getting some shop time in.

Walnut, White Oak and Brazilian Cherry Jewelry Box

Chris was cleaning his room.. ya I was shocked too tough to get a teenager to do that. Anyway he came out and asked if I had an extra box in the shop to keep his wallet, keys and stuff in.

I didn’t have one kicking around, but I did have some leftover cutoffs from other projects , so I created this.

The top is made from white oak, the main box is walnut and the trim is done in brazilian cherry, it is then finished with 3 coats of BLO (boiled linseed oil) that has been diluted with paint thinner and then 3 coats of shellac were applied. It still needs a final buffing in a week or so, but overall I am quite happy with how it turned out.

Cherry Stirring spoon

I have an old stirring spoon that after being beaten on the side of the soup pot for years is about to break. Someone had given us some cherry cutoffs they had , so asked Pat to carve me up a new spoon.

This is what she came up with.. now I’m not sure I want to put it in a pot …

Replacement Cabinet Door

My neighbour has a TV stand and the door on one side got broken, so I was asked to see if I could fix it. The frame was pretty messed up so built a new frame, but was able to use the panel.

This was a quick and easy project and did not cost them much to have it done.

Well seems like only yesterday but once again it has been a while since my last post. Finally getting some projects finished up and in the next couple days will be posting pictures of a very cool outdoor serving table, cross between a little side table and a serving tray.

In a couple of minutes I will be posting projects I have been working on that I remembered to take pictures of ….

Hey All,

I know I promised a bunch of you I’d get some pics of my projects I have been working on in the shop. Well I finally have gotten around to it. So the site has been updated with a gallery and new woodworking section.

I’ll try a little harder to keep this up to date and will try and get some pics of the shop so you can all see how it has changed over the last 6 months or so.

Walnut Salad Spoon

OK , this is not my creation, but it was done in my shop, so it get’s posted here. Pat has taken an interest in carving spoons , this is her first attempt with hardwood. Look for a salad fork to go with it in the very near future.
