Kottaras Beomes Just Second Canadian to Hit For Cycle

George Kottaras became just the second Canadian and first player this year to hit for the cycle. Kottaras became the first Canadian since 1887 spanning an incredible 124 years to hit for the cycle.

After Kottaras was out on his first at bat he came up with a solo home run in the fourth inning to begin his cycle. Later in the sixth inning Kottaras hit a lead off triple before Craig Counsel hit a 2 run home run. In the seventh inning Kottaras hit an RBI single leaving him a double short of the cycle. In Kottaras’ final at bat in the ninth inning Kottaras got a hold of a Chris Carpenter pitch hitting it to deep center field before the ball bounced over the wall giving him a ground rule double thus completing the cycle.

With the cycle so rare when will we see the next one?

Former Leaf Belak Found Dead in His Toronto Home.

Former NHL tough guy Wade Belak was found dead in his Toronto home last night. The cause of death is still unknown. The death of Belak comes within a month of Rick Rypiens death and within a couple of months since another former tough guy Derek Boogaard.

Belak who retired this Februry after clearing waivers by the Nashville Predators and not being picked up by another team finished the year with 15 games played getting 15 Penalty Minutes and was a minus 1.

With this being the third death of a tough guy since the end of the season it could mark the end of the true tough guy in the NHL. Something needs to be done we can’t keep having all the players die all the time.
