The Montreal Canadiens announced the signing of forward Alexander Semin today to a one year contract worth $1.1 million. Semin became a free agent earlier this offseason after the Carolina Hurricanes bought out the remainder of his 3 year contract worth $7 million.

Last season was Semin’s worst offensive season of his career as he finished with six goals and 13 assists in 57 games. During a career spanning ten seasons Semin has 238 goals and 275 assists in 635 games with the Hurricanes and Washington Captials.
